Discover Kayak is the Southwest source for kayak education. With classes for the beginner through expert at three locations: Murrell Park Lake Grapevine, Jordan Park Lake Ray Roberts and Mallard Park Lake Lavon.
Kayak Basics
This comprehensive intro class covers the 6 basic strokes along with safety, weather and equipment, how to dress and more.
Two and a half hours of the class are on water, 30 minutes on shore. The class focuses on boat control and efficient strokes. Non swimmers' welcome!
Fridays, Saturday at Murrell Park, Lake Grapevine
Sundays alternate between Lake Ray Roberts and Lake Lavon.
$90 including all equipment.

Continuing Kayak Fun
Once you have taken a Kayak Basics Class then you can join us on our weekly kayak tours held on Saturday and Sunday. Trips will be conducted at Lake Grapevine, Ray Roberts and Lake Texoma.
This is a great way to get back on the water for a day trip to practice the skills you learned in class with a instructor along for questions and advice.
(Experienced kayakers are welcome to sign-up without the lesson) 2.5-3 hour trips- $50

Take your skills to the next level with Intermediate Skills One.

INTERMEDIATE KAYAK II
After completing Intermediate I, you may want to fine tune your skills further. In this class you will learn six new strokes that give you precise control of your kayak.
Also add to your paddling independence with self-rescue skills. (Getting back into your boat by yourself in deep water in the event of a capsize)

Private Lessons
Private sessions allow a fine tuned lesson for your exact paddling needs.
Two hour, $125 by appt.

About the Staff
My name is Steve Walls and I began kayaking in Seattle in 1998. The Seattle area offers great paddling opportunities and world renowned instructors.
My past instructor certifications include Level 4 Open Water, Level 2 Whitewater and Instructor Trainer from the American Canoe Association in addition to a 4 star certification from the British Canoe Union.
I opened Discover Kayak in 2011 with the help of some of the areas top instructors.
We hope you join us and experience Texas kayak touring at it's best.
Discover Kayak is based in Lakeview Park on Lake Grapevine, convenient from either Dallas or Ft. Worth, although we are equipped to travel to any location in the area. Discover Kayak specializes in lessons and guided tours.
